Fourth of July in DC

Untitled

My fourth was pretty low-key. Andrew and I hung around the apartment with our friend Fox, cooking, baking, and relaxing before heading up to Andrew's rooftop to reserve a spot so we could watch the fireworks later on.

Andrew's roof has a great view of the Washington Monument. Fox is moving away in a few days, so this was a bittersweet day for
him. After living in DC for seven years, he's moving to Boston to start grad school. We'll miss him!

Since we didn't really have anywhere to grill, the guys headed down the street to pick up some BBQ for dinner. (Being the veg-head that I am, I made some cheese, pea, and carrot pasta.)

The fireworks were great, as expected! I saw the show last year from the same spot and I remember loving the way the smoke just engulfs the sky afterward. Sirens, lights and helicopters were everywhere, as well as hundreds of people running in every direction.
It was fun watching all the chaos from a place where I didn't have to deal with any of it!

Isn't DC beautiful at night?? I love this city!
