I drove to Pennsylvania with Kendal and Brett to see Rocky Votolato perform at Abbey Pub in Harrisburg. It was about a three hour drive from Arlington. That's how much we love that little man! Rocky is a wonderful musician. I've been listening to him for years, but I've never seen him live, so I was pretty excited!
I stuck my head out of the sunroof on the way there to snap this photo of the gorgeous sunset. (It was really windy and I may or may not have swallowed a few bugs.)
Anyway, Rocky is touring with Matt Pond, PA but the day before the show, Matt broke his ankle and had to have surgery, so he didn't end up playing. The bar still held the show for Rocky though, and we were able to get our money back since Matt couldn't perform.
I took a video of him playing "White Daisy Passing" which is my absolute favorite song of all time. I was so happy! I swear he was singing to me...
Here's the original if you're interested!
Here's another song of his that I love. He performed this one, too.
(I didn't take this video.)
The show was lovely. We met him afterward and he shook our hands and asked if we had a good time. We told him we drove all the way from DC to see him and he thanked us. We chatted for a bit and then he signed a poster Kendal and Brett bought. He's a very friendly, down-to-earth guy. I love supporting musicians like Rocky and I hope he tours again very soon!
